Eating Our Way Through Paris

We are foodies.  If I'm going to a new town or state, the first thing I will ask is what are some good places to eat?  I'm all about the food selection.  So when traveling overseas, what do you think we had the most to say about?  The FOOD!  And really I can't say enough about it.  The meat quality was out of this world.  The bread that came with every meal.  And the c.h.o.c.o.l.a.t.e.  Yum.

Our first experience with French food came at 10:00am Saturday morning.  We had just woken from 19 hours of sleep and had gone over 24 hours without food.  We crawled with a immense lack of energy down the street from our hotel to find our saving grace.  Croissants.  Warm and utterly delicious.

Our biggest splurge of the trip was to eat at the Eiffel Tower.  Not just in sight of it or around the corner from it, but in it, at Le Jules Verne.  With sweeping views of the city, we wined and dined for three hours.  The food was phenomenal and the service was fantastic.

One of the things I came to love most about this city was their affinity for dining.  Not only do the French enjoy their food, but they enjoy the experience of dining out.  They sit back and take it all in.  They don't rush.  And the waiters respect this.  They won't bring you your bill for fear of being rude in an attempt to rush you through your meal.  For every meal, even at the smallest cafe, we had to ask for our bill.

So did I mention the chocolate?

Jason's favorite part of the dining experience was cafĂ© au lait after every meal (even in France the coffee tasted gross to me).

I'm getting hungry just looking at these pictures.  Oh France.  I miss you.
