So Long My Dear Friend

Dear DVD,

We've been going steady for quite some time now.  Looking back, I remember all the good times we've had together.  Do you remember jumping for joy when I FINALLY bought a laptop that could burn content on you?  Do you remember toasting our success when each shipment, beautifully labeled, was sent off to a client?

And then there were the bad times.  Do you remember when I placed you in my drive and found that you were corrupt?  Do you remember being delivered to a client with only HALF of the completed images?  Do you remember when Apple stopped shipping iMacs with drives to read you?

We've certainly had our ups and downs, but now comes a time when we must face a hard, cold truth.  Years ago when I was a single gal, I faced the prospect of not having a date for major holidays.  I worried I would be left standing by myself.  So when I made a date, I also made a back-up plan.  The guy-friend who I might call if I needed him.  The guy who, more often than not, didn't get that call.  Well DVD, you are now my back-up date.  You will be left waiting for that call that I probably won't make, because I've found someone new.

I've found PASS.

It's beautiful.  It's lovely.  It's convenient.  It's modern.  It is all the things you are not.  I'm sorry that the world is not big enough for both of you in my life.  You were a good friend when I needed you.  I just don't need you now.

Welcome to my new world: PASS.

I now can present all of my client's images to them in a beautiful, easy-to-use online gallery.  They're now available the day I finish editing them.

With seamless Facebook integration, clients can now share any or all of their images with friends and family without having to copy the images from a disc, shrink file sizes and reupload the images.  And for me?  My copyright information goes with the images.  Woot woot!

PASS then lets me track (my World Takeover!  LOVE it!) viewers and hits from around the world.

Who would go back to DVDs now?
