Every year it comes and goes. I usually hear about it on the news after the fact. Maybe I hear an advertisement for it on the radio for the upcoming weekend, but I've already made plans. Not this year.
We were driving back to work from lunch when it came on the radio. The annual Beaufort Marine Corps Air Base Air Show was coming to town. I shrieked like a little girl. I'm pretty sure Jason thought I saw a spider. I've always wanted to go to an airshow! Conveniently we didn't have any plans, I didn't have any shoots and it wasn't suppose to rain. It was as though the stars aligned. A bit of an extreme metaphor, yes, but we're talking about an air show here. With the Blue Angels. Enough said.
Static displays lined the entire air strip. Jason knew what every plane was and how and when it was used by the military. And when I say every plane, I mean every plane. This only further proved my point hat I'm dating the human wikipedia.

And what would any good airshow be without funnel cake?
I couldn't believe the amount of cameras in the crowds. And I'm not just meaning regular ol' point and shoot cameras. I mean, the kind of camera that makes me drool, the kind that brings out my camera and lens envy.
The stunts displayed by some of these pilots were incredible. I would have lost my lunch (and funnel cake) more than a few times had I been in the cockpit of those planes.
And then there were the Blue Angels. They were as good as I had dreamed they would be. I was giddy waiting for them to take flight.

Did I mention how awesome they were?
