Italian Honeymoon: Dreams That Became Possible

Four years ago we sat down and talked about all the things we wanted to see in the world and all the places we wanted to go.  I told Jason about my lifelong dream of traveling to Paris - a dream I kept thinking would never come true.  In answer to what I thought was a crazy dream, Jason simpled smiled and said, "Then let's go".  And we did.  Just like that he took what I thought was impossible and made it possible.

Since then, he has continued to make the impossible possible as two weeks ago we boarded a plan to begin one amazing adventure that I couldn't have taken without him.

The first stop on our breathtaking honeymoon was Rome.  We stood at the base of greatness in awe with the thought that we were standing where millions have stood for centuries.

Yes, our Italian was bad, potentially worse than our French was.

We took in some jaw-dropping sites.  Out of all the cities we traveled to, Rome struck us with the amount of history that we were surrounded by.

These Romans really understood how to build a church with a wow-factor.  I've never seen so many incredible works of art and architecture.

I made sure to take lots of breaks to document in writing places that we saw, people we met and funny anecdotes about our day (our hotel TV only got one English-speaking channel that showed REALLY BAD American movies).

We walked miles up, down and around the city.

But don't think we didn't take time to enjoy the FOOD.  Oh yeah, the food.  I talked for months about the food we were anticipating and what we ate was even better than what we thought it would be like.  But I'll post some of those mouth-watering food pictures later!

Some of the best moments were those where we took time to just marvel at what we saw.  We watched the sun set behind the Colosseum and saw the interior lights gradually turn on.  We watched hundreds of people walk by and stare, stop for photos and pose like they were flying through the air (I wish I had taken a picture of that!).

And we did it all together.  We lived out the impossible in the Eternal City.
