Behind the Camera: A Day at Work

The alarm went off at 4:30AM, but I was awake even before the buzzing started.  It was too early in the year to have had the windows open throughout the night, but the fan hummed overhead chilling the floor.  The room was still pitch black and I wanted to savor the last few moments in bed, not ready to leave the warmth of my covers, yet too excited to stay tucked under them.

It was a wedding day.

There's nothing quite like the feeling I get on the morning of a shoot - it's excitement, it's an extreme slight case of nerves,  it's absolute joy at what I get to spend the day doing.  One of the things that adds to the enjoyment of the day is getting to shoot with my best friend, Shayna, at my side.  While our focus is 99.8% on shooting the bride and groom, it's fun to snap a few shots here and there of each other at work.

How else would you get to see the fun gear we shoot with (which I described in more detail HERE)?  And all the fun we're having?

Apparently I like to hide in linen closets.

That's right - I'm toting my camera....strapless!  (I promise, I'm gripping my camera more tightly than it looks...or at least I hope I am)

Fortunately, I was a dog wrangler in a previous life....

....and Shayna was a dog whisperer.

I spy with my little eye.....a photographer shooting with The Beast!

I was lucky enough to have my client's mom with us on my last engagement shoot.  Thanks, Connie for catching these!
I was doing my best to step with caution and keep an eye out for snakes in these flowers!
