Our DIY Wedding: The Details

An outdoor wedding.  In Savannah.  In early spring.  That's a big limb to go out on.  The limb that says it is going to be warm and it isn't going to rain.  Everything I planned was contingent on it all working out.  Our backup plan was simply one word:  panic.  I put a lot of energy into that backup plan.  All of which ended up being wasted energy because the day turned out to be spectacular.  Not a cloud in the sky.  To think, I could have put that energy into more details.

Details.  Details.  Details.  Oh how I loved planning the details of our day.  I literally began dreaming about them.

I won't even mention how many times I wrote "welcome" on this chalkboard before I was happy with the font...And then there were the plants.  My ability to kill plants is practically legendary.  We waited until the weekend before the wedding to buy and plant them in the hopes that I could keep them alive for at least a week.  As I look at the wilting plant next to me, I know this was a brilliant idea and just barely worked.

Dried plants were also a bonus.  These were the first sets of details that I made and are still my favorites.

I couldn't have been happier with how our flowers turned out.  We ordered them from Amazon Flowers.  As in, on the i.n.t.e.r.n.e.t.  I didn't even see flowers in person before ordering.  Out on another limb?  Yep.  There I went.

The rings?  *Sigh*  I still catch myself staring at mine.

Ok, I lied.  I know I said the dried lavender was my favorite detail.  But the yellow and white candy?  Mmmm.  Desserts are a bit of an obsession of mine.  Big surprise there.  So there was no question about having an entire table full of desserts.  Candy, cakes, marshmallows, jelly beans.  You name it.  We had it.  A palette of yellow, blue and white was great to work with.

Our photographer has given us a sneak peek of our wedding day images, and I simply can't wait to see more!
