Nearly three years ago I sat at my desk anxiously awaiting the arrival of the UPS truck. A week prior I had spent all the money I had in my bank account and then some on a purchase through B&H. My camera. This was the day it was set to arrive. I paced back and forth. Still unable to grasp the amount of money I had just whisked away in a matter of minutes. I figured there was still time to turn it around and get a full refund. To get all that money back. It had taken me months to save the money I had put down and months more to pay off the balance. But wait. Wasn't this the camera I had always wanted?
40,000 images later I look back on that day. I never should have worried about the money. That camera has more than paid for itself over the past three years. Maybe it's a little crazy to say that we've become so close that we're practically best friends. And although I don't sleep with it (now that would be the crossing the line), I do have it with me at all times. We've shared and documented countless moments together. The birth of both my nephews, the marriages of friends, my family, my memories, my life.
Maybe my business isn't quite as successful as I'd like it to be. And maybe I don't shoot as often as I want to. But not a day goes by that I don't cherish what I do. I'm endlessly grateful to those who helped me get even this far.
40,000 memories. 40,000 stories. 40,000 more moments to come.
