When two people love each other, they give themselves fully to their partner. Void of selfishness, pride or vanity, their love is pure. Combined, the two of them can create something more beautiful than their love itself. They can bring forth a miracle. They can create life.
Nine months ago I received a phone call in the middle of the grocery store. It was my sister. Call me back when you get a chance. That's all the message said. A million thoughts raced through me head, thinking of all the things that could be wrong. Her voice had just sounded a bit off. We've known each other forever and simply have that ability to read each other's tone of voice. Immediately I called her back. Hey. So guess what?
She was pregnant. She didn't even have to tell me. I knew it from her voice.
Today, March 13, she brought into the world one of the most beautiful babies I've ever seen. My precious nephew, Andrew.
Watching parents watch their newborn child could melt even the coldest heart. Never have they seen anything so small, so real, and so a part of themselves.
And what is a baby brother without a big brother?
Me and my beautiful nephew. Today is a day I will cherish for a lifetime.
