Another spring. Another planting season.

Yes.  It's that time of year again.  Time to brush off my green(ish) thumb and try some new plants.  I'm setting out with an optimistic approach, though, if its anything like last year, my optimism won't last long.

Last weekend I walked into Home Depot and asked where the hardy plants were kept.  They really should just make a section for them.  Catering specifically to those of us who are plant challenged.  The aisle should include plants that need less than 4 hours of sun, can survive in dry soil and require no pruning.  Those are my kind of plants.  Unfortunately, with that criteria, my plant selection is down to a cactus.  And although I'm not particularly prejudice against the cacti family, they just aren't what I have in mind when spring comes around.  I like big, green and leafy.  And without a doubt I'm drawn to the ones with bright colored flowers.  But guess what?  Those kinds require a lot of maintenance.

I'm going to plow along (no pun intended) none-the-less.  Any guesses on these life expectencies?

Bright flowers and all.  Watch out hibiscus, I'm gunning for you.
