Thanksgiving is a number of things to a variety of people. Its a time for families to come together. A time to sit back and give thanks for the blessings of the past year. For some, its a time to brave the rediculous crowds and save money at Black Friday sales.
This year, for me, it was about football.
For all the years that I've followed and adored the Green Bay Packers, I've never once seen them play. Brett Favre, my hero. Yes, he should retire. Yes, he should have retired last year. And yes, I'm sick of hearing everyone tell me this. My counter argument? He is still, none-the-less, one of the greatest players of all time. I attempt to drown out all the rest. But did I ever see Favre play during his tenure in Green Bay? Nope. I waited to see him when he was playing for the Jets. The Jets. I suppose at least I can say that I saw him play.....Now, back to the Packers. After years of waiting, I finally got to see them play this past weekend. I purchased the tickets three months ago and have been anxiously, and most people will say, impatiently, waiting. I spent the past week talking up this game and refused to hear any negative comments about my team. Then the day came.
They lost.
Ouch. I could sit back and say that it was an amazing game, down to the wire. I'm sure I would just simply be comforting myself. But I'll say it anyway. It was an amzing game. The day was beautiful. The stadium was awesome.
The players looked like tiny ants from where our seats were, but I still say our seats, four rows from the top fo the stadium, were great.
Despite the hike to and from concessions.
So yes, we lost. But I would be lying if I said I wasn't so thankful for the chance to go to the game in the first place. What a great thanksgiving!
