I love this city. Plain and simple. From the very first time I ever drove down Abercorn under the cover of spanish moss-draped old trees. For some crazy reason I even love the smell of the city. Maybe that's taking it a bit far...
If you've ever seen Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, you've gotten an inside look into the quirks of this city. And that's such a great word to describe it - quirky. People walking invisible dogs. Squatters rerouting electricity from a neighboring house. Yes, it sounds outlandish, but that's Savannah. John Cusack said it best, "This place is fantastic. It's like Gone With the Wind on Mescalin. I know you're my agent. Listen to me, they walk imaginary pets here, Garland. On a f**** leash. Alright? And they're all heavily armed and drunk. New York is boring!" Now, New York may not be boring in comparison, but why would you want to live anywhere else? This city has a life of its own. It lives and breathes.
Life is all around, even in the bricks along Bull Street. Spanish moss may look dried out and dead hanging from the trees, but its certainly not. In fact, one handful of spanish moss and you won't be doubting how very alive it is!
